We welcome Phil as Head Coach at the club, he is a member of the MDL coaching team. Please direct all coaching enquiries to Phil and he will be in touch with you.
Phil has over 40 years of experience, teaching at clubs around the UK and was the co-founder of the Holly Park Junior Tennis Club which was the first all junior club in the UK. Phil is a LTA Level 4 Senior Club Coach as well as a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Professional Coach.
Phil was also awarded the PTR UK Pro of the Year in 1998 & THE PTR lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. He has been a key-note speaker at Coach Education seminars and the PTR National Symposiums. He has been a PTR Coach Education Tutor and Chief Assessor and was awarded the International Tester of the Year 2013. Phil has trained over 3,000 coaches in the past 25 years.
He combines his coaching role with his successful restringing business and holds the UKRSA Professional Stringer qualification. Please contact him if you require racquet stringing.
Matt Womack
Club Coach of Junior sessions and Individual Coaching
Matt is an LTA Level 2 coach and is close to completing his Level 3 qualification. He recently completed his BSc Hons Degree in Sport Science Coaching & PE.
We are delighted that he is starting his coaching career with us, especially as he joined as a Junior with us in 2014 so he is well known at the club. We have enjoyed watching his great tennis over the years.
Our head coach Tony soon spotted his potential and encouraged him to assist with the Juniors and has guided his progression to a career in tennis.
Matt is now a regular coach on the Juniors sessions on a Saturday and has started doing individual sessions with Juniors. The children enjoy his sessions, he is always positive and puts a lot of care and thought into helping them improve their tennis.
